Today, secure identification can be ensured even with a mobile phone. Gemalto’s mobile ID solutions are based on the technology of the Finnish company Valimo Wireless, bringing electronic ID to mobile phones. Gemalto acquired Valimo Wireless in spring 2010.

 

Implementing electronic identification in mobile phones makes sense, since they are used to make everyday life easier and are nearly always with their owners. Easy and legally binding authentication opens possibilities for entirely new services.

 

Valimo’s mobile ID utilizes the public key infrastructure (PKI). It is based on a secret key on the SIM card, accessed with a PIN code.

 

Valimo’s technology enables secure authentication and signing of documents with one’s mobile phone, anywhere and at any time. It also ensures secure remote login to companies’ intranets.
